How to see who really sent an email
The name you see ("Amazon HR") can be faked. The email address after it is what matters.
- Gmail: on a computer, the address shows next to the name. On a phone, tap the sender's name at the top of the email.
- Outlook: tap or hover over the sender's name to see the full address.
- Yahoo and AOL Mail: tap or hover over the sender's name.
- iPhone Mail: tap the sender's name at the top. The address shows underneath.
- Text messages: paste the phone number or name it came from.
Install it on your phone or computer
It works without internet once it's installed, and it's free.
- Android (Chrome): tap the â‹® menu, then Install app or Add to Home screen. After that it shows up in your Share menu.
- iPhone / iPad (Safari): tap the Share button , then Add to Home Screen.
- Computer (Chrome or Edge): click the install icon at the right end of the address bar.
Good to know
- This checks for the warning signs most job scams share. It can't prove a job is real. Always check the company yourself before sharing personal details.
- A real employer will never ask you to pay to get hired, buy your own equipment from their "vendor," deposit a check and send money back, or pay with gift cards or crypto.
